NUDE-A-PALOOZA!

October 21, 2010 by

Fun for the whole family!
So, you’re sitting around your dingy little hovel wondering what to do with your sad, pathetic, life this weekend, hoping beyond hope that someone will come to your rescue and give you a reason to draw another breath. You’re in luck.

This Saturday, at Cypress Cove in Florida, they’re holding their third annual NUDE-A-PALOOZA! While I’m sorry to inform you that there are no Hippos involved, except for a possible appearance by Ashley Lobo, the rest of the event looks to be a lot of fun. As reported by AOL.com, this is a true family fun event.

We’re all about family fun here at Nude Hippo.

Even though many folks will be baring it all, Hadley insists that Nude-A-Palooza is a family-friendly affair.

“There’s nothing going on here at Cypress Cove that’s inappropriate. We’re a clean, traditional nudist resort. We believe being nude is wholesome and nonsexual. It’s just a way for friends to hang out, bond and accept their bodies in a nonthreatening environment.”

I might have used a different phrase than “hang out.”

Even so, to reinforce their family friendly image they even have a Facebook page. Events will include cover bands (that’s a Gene Simmons impersonator in the pic), dancing, food, drinks and games.

Unlike previous years, there are rumors that some of the bands will perform in the nude this year. It seems only fair.

Tickets are $20.00 and all proceeds from sales go to the Rock Pink foundation for breast cancer research. .

Power of Pink…

October 12, 2010 by

“Be brilliant. Be bold. Be BRIGHT PINK!”

Over 400 young Chicago professionals did just that, as they filled the Hard Rock Hotel for the annual “Power of Pink” charity event.  The party was perfectly pink and perfectly priced for young professionals, which was an added bonus.  Tickets weren’t overly expensive (pre-sale tickets were $45.00) and guests still felt like they were making a difference for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event generated a lot of buzz on both Facebook and Twitter as it proved to be a huge success.  Lindsay Avner, CEO and Founder of Bright Pink, announced that they raised over $28,000 for their educational and awareness program. Bright Pink is the only organization of its kind, focusing on early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.  Avner couldn’t have done it without the help of her perfectly pink hosts and their incredible silent auction items. The lovely hosts included: Jason Erkes, DC Crenshaw, Ryan Poli, Kelli Zink, Amanda Puck, Jessica Zweig, Showbiz Shelly and Cameron Croft.

If you missed this event and yet still want to be involved, be sure to check out Bright Pink’s website for on-going events. (www.bebrightpink.org)

Feel YOUR Boobies

October 4, 2010 by

Feel your boobies!   Yes, that’s correct-I’m asking you to touch your boobies in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (It’s the very least you can do!)  It’s never to early to take precaution into your own hands…literally.  Fellow Chicagoan and Founder/Executive Director of “Bright Pink“; Lindsay Avner, created a live webcast called “Treasure Your Chest” to guide you.  (If you missed it live no worries, please watch the video below.)  Lindsay was joined by E! News host; Giuliana Ranic, for the demo.   It’s fun, super easy to follow and get to “first base” with yourself in the comfort of your own home.  Lindsay has created a buzz in the National Cancer community and she’s changing the lives of young women nationwide with her organization, Bright Pink.  It is a national non-profit with a sole focus on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in high-risk women.  If you’re interested in getting involved be sure to check out their upcoming events.  I hope to see you at the Hard Rock Hotel for her “Power of Pink” event this Thursday.  In the mean time, be sure to sport your PINK wardrobe this month, even if it means being extra girly and nauseating to some.

Fashionably Tan, ORTANIC

September 22, 2010 by

OrtanicNow that fall is here, our days of laying out in the sun are officially over.  However, you don’t have to lose your tan.  I am going to share one of my most treasured secrets…ORTANIC.  It’s one of the most fabulous customized spray tans on the planet.  I use it summer, fall and winter without the bat of an eye.  So here’s how it works- you head to the spa at Equinox in Lincoln Park.  (Be sure to book your appointment far in advance because, they are quite popular.) Now, for the tricky part- you need to bare all except your panties.  (It’s extra motivation to put that extra cookie down.)  However, be not afraid, for the staff are very professional, warm and will put you at ease.  They are all trained Aestethetic Skin Consultants and create a special recipie for your skin type.  They know just the right color and realize you don’t want too dark in the colder months- but need a healthy looking glow.  Ater about 10-15 minutes of being personally airbrushed you are finished.   No orange streaky tan, no gross smells and best of all no skin cancer.  I’d suggest wearing something black and loose fitting afterwards, but you dry literally in a few minutes.  My Ortanic tans usually last around 5 to 6 days depending how long I spend in the shower.  It’s $45.00 per tan, but definitely worth it for a special occasion or if you just want to feel your best.  And of course, you cannot put a price on staying cancer free.  Speaking of price, be sure to visit their website for a $10.00 off coupon.  When you go in tell the staff “Hi” and that Ashley Lobo sent you.
