Hey there Hippo fans! Have you frozen off any body parts yet? I think I lost my pinkie finger on a walk home from the red line. Oh well. We Chicagoans are tough! Just like Ditka!
I’ve got a couple of great ways to warm up your weekend while you wait in anticipation of the holidays. While many of these do involve alcohol, don’t fret — this is just the lull in the season that builds up to the crazy Christmas festivities. People are bored and restless, which begs for beverages! There are additional options at the bottom and as always, check out my last couple of weekend blogs for free holiday events still occurring in the city!
We all know people in Chicago enjoy consuming alcohol, but why not do it while making arts and crafts?? Take THAT Color Me Mine!
The second Friday of every month features this fun event at the Hyde Park Art Center from 8:00pm – Midnight. A donation of $15 is suggested. Cannot WAIT to see what type of mug you can make while intoxicated.
Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave.
Ah, who doesn’t love TBOX? A bunch of drunken Santas, boxes of cereal galore, and the Cubs. What could be better?
Buy your tickets online for only $30 and enjoy your romp throughout Wrigleyville. Cereal is not included (it is recommended for stamina) and Santa costume is not required. Word of advice as well – make sure not to take any photos – you never know who will tag you on Facebook.

Head on over to Delilah’s this Saturday for their 12th annual Christmas beer tasting. They will have over 100 different beers available and it’s only $20! This will be sure to warm you up quickly. Can you believe there are over 100 types of Christmas and Winter beers even available? Makes you question the human species and our purpose here…
Event runs from noon – 5:00pm. Good luck choosing between this and TBOX….
Delilah’s, 2771 N. Lincoln
(4) Scrabble Sundays
Restock your brain with all of the knowledge you lost at TBOX by hitting up Scrabble Sundays at Swim Café.
Winners can even receive a free drink, hooray!
Swim Cafe, 1357 W. Chicago Ave.
(5) The Theater!
The holiday season is chock full of musicals, plays and ballets just begging to be seen, and Chicago is 2nd only to New York in terms of great theater and entertainment.
You can see the Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol and a John Waters Christmas to name a few. Check out the link above to find out what show is right for you! Did I mention Wicked is back in town for a limited time?
Be hip(po)! Have fun! DO NOT forget your box of Lucky Charms! But most importantly, have a safe weekend!
