Taste every beer from around the world without ever leaving Chicago! Yes, you can do almost just that by visiting the Map Room in Buck Town. This tavern is tucked away on Hoyne Avenue and Armitage, but it’s easy to find even for the directionally challenged.
The Map Room was designed for the avid traveler, for they try to carry a beer from every country. They offer over 200 unique brands and 36 different brewing styles from around the globe. This cozy little bar opened in 1992 and is one of the best kept secrets in Chicago.
We experienced their special event that happens every Tuesday called “International Night.” Each Tuesday they feature a different country and have that particular countries cuisine catered from a tasty restaurant. The tasting begins at 7pm and you get meal tickets for every 2 beers you purchase. Therefore, it’s very affordable and you get to become more cultured at the same time! When we visited they featured Spain– Muy Bien! The food was delicious tapas catered by,”Tapas Las Ramblas.” I highly recommend going and bring a group of friends. Or better yet, bring a guy! Your hunk will be very impressed with the world class beer selection and you will become more popular than the Pauli St. Beer Girl.
