October 10, 2010- It’s more than just another day… it’s the Chicago Marathon. You can feel tourism in the air as millions of people are flocking to our city for the big race. Walking down Michigan Avenue you can see it’s more crowded than usual and that if you live in the heart of the city, don’t plan on driving anywhere during race time. The big day starts at 7:18 am in Grant Park with the National Anthem performed by Ryan Bauer- Walsh of Billy Elliot. Soon after 45,000 registered runners will begin the 26.2 mile urban course. Runners will get a tour of 29 different Chicago neighborhoods and of course our gorgeous skyline. Around 1.7 million spectators are expected to line the course and watch the race first hand. However, if you’re not into crowds, have no fear you won’t have to miss a minute, just watch online in the comfort of your own home. NBC Chicago is the only network streaming live coverage around the world. However, if you are in Chicago, you might want to get to Grant Park for The Post- Race Party will have live music by local cover band, Hey Jimmy. Either way, check out the race online because 10-10-10 will be a huge milestone in the lives of many..
